Is there a massive difference between the standard seats and the sports seats?

As someone who has had a 3.0 with std seats for a year, albeit heated and electric - and just (this weekend) swapped them for heated elec sports seats, the difference is nothing short of staggering. I feel like I've gotten a new car. The std seats have zero support in the corners when pressing on, so little in fact that I'd find myself wedging my knee against either the door or the transmission tunnel to try and stop myself sliding. With eh new seats, I can concentrate of driving rather than holding on, as there is none of that. Contrary to popular belief, they are no more adjustable than the standard ones, as they both use either the same manual or electric base, however the combination of base and side bolsters, plus the extendible leg support at the front make ALL the difference.

I also changed my wheel to an ///M wheel, and even though I had mine retrimmed by Royals a couple of months ago, again, the difference is astonishing..

Manual, unheated sports seats alone have been know to sell for £1,000 on Ebay, and the ///M wheels go for stupid money too, like £300...

Owners just think their Z4 is worth more than it actually is which is why they sit on autotrader/ebay so long. Most early ones are now 13yrs+. I sold one last week easily in 3 days of listing advert priced correctly. All this prices go up and down is rubbish. I've had 4 now in last 12 months the most I paid was £5000 and that for the first one being a novice Z4 buyer. Theres a grey one popped up today for £3950 on the facebook Z4 owners page

:D I mean from a sitting in point of view. :D If I bought a car without them are they an easy upgrade later if necessary?

As mentioned above, the sports seats sell for a fortune-makes much more sense to buy a car with them already fitted instead of remortgaging for them later

Agree with Rob, I would have been £500 and a trip to Surrey better off if mine had had them when I got it and that was cheap apparently! That said they are dead easy to fit, 4 bolts and few wiring plugs so if the car is right then go for it, just don't expect M sport seats to in plentiful supply.

I always try and buy off an enthusiast that knows his stuff. A loved car is always worth paying extra for!

Couldn't agree more.

Just paid 6k for an '04 3.0se with electric heated m sport seats, hardtop and a few other extras. Owned the last 4 years by enthusiast, who purchased it from another enthusiast.

Car is mint and had has anything it could possibly ever need in terms of care.
