Hey all!

I know its off topic but I assume everyone here likes a road trip and have done plenty... Looking for some ideas/recommendations....

Want to do something nice for my girlfriend for her birthday, being a Junior Doctor she has a grand total of one evening and a full day off during her Birthday month (don't get me started!!) for us to be able to celebrate/do something... this kind of eliminates any long trip ideas etc etc.... So one of my ideas to have an an overnight stay in a castle... probably somewhere within about 2.5 hour drive from the Midlands (as time is precious!!) ...... So any of you fine people had any over night stays in some fantastic Castle type place that you'd recommend??? Or anything along those lines really!?

Cheers all!

Have a look on airbnb, some great deals to be had on there and i think you can look specifically for castles.

Alternatively i quite enjoy a stop in a wood cabin, nice and remote and often come with a hot tub  :bonk: Some decent ones down in the forest of dean or Nottingham forest.

I'd look at more historic houses than castles, but if you want a castle then New Hall in Sutton Coldfield is a nice pile of bricks with moat, etc. and not very far away.

Was going to suggest this- stayed here and loved it, great food and great hotel- well worth paying for a suite too as they are really nice.

For sure - a spectacular place and dined there many times. Bit too close for me to stay over as I only live 5 miles away

Stayed at New Hall myself and it was great...

I also Stopped in Augill Castle at Kirby Stephen and it was Awesome, maybe just in your travel range ?

Although not a Castle,Gibbon Bridge is my favourite place for an overnighter....

I stayed in a lighthouse a couple of years ago organised by a friend.
Theres loads of strange places that you can stay, unfortunately I dont know how to go about it :(

From Leamington you could head South down the A46 ( nice Road) Stay at Thornbury Castle near Bristol, then visit Bath

Try Peckforton Castle near to Whitchurch Shropshire. Restaurant is really good as are the rooms. Breakfast is one of the best. We have been twice, once for my nephews wedding, and last year we did the Land Rover Expierence got it as a freebie when we bought the wife's Evoque.

It's a bit of a jaunt from where you are, but within your 2.5 hours limit, but this place is really good:

Wherever you do, have a great time!

Another one to consider, Chateau Impney. Always forget about this as its right on my doorstep and where i got married last yr. Its recently been refurbed and the feature rooms are spectacular.
