Pushed it a bit before refuelling at south mims, economy was down because of bad hold ups on the A40 & a few short journeys round the Forest of Dean, very pleased with it-comfortable, practical and great fun to drive :driving:

Hmmmm.....are you sure you didn't get Mrs Smartbear to get out and push part of the way? I've never seen that mpg on my 2.0!

Impressive restraint! Looks a lovely road trip.

Haven't ever got anywhere near that in my Zed but I won't stop trying, on the right trip - good to know it can be done. :)

:driving:

High 30s on a journey is easy with the 3.0, I have had 42 and 41 a couple of times :driving:
Having cruise fitted certainly helps.

420 miles is the furthest I've eked out of one tank so far but I reckon on a longer run with no crawling through a forest which we did a fair bit 450+ should be easily reached.
I was driving at the legal limits as well-look at some hypermileing sites to get some tips on better mpg.....

We went to dorset from kent last month in our 2.0 managed 44 mpg on the way down and only dropped to 39 after 5 days running around the coastal villages. When I did a z4 forum run last weekend with Bing and a few other z4ms and 3.0 ltrs spent 3 hours flat out keeping up with them and got home and couldn't believe it still showed an average of 39 mpg :driving:

39mpg after flat out for 3 hours. I cannot see that ever being possible with my 2.0. Well done!

It wasn't really doing 39mpg whilst being driven hard for 3 hours, it's just the result of a long term average being slow to adjust to a different level-a reset would have seen a far lower figure!

A few years back I got low 50's in my 3.0 driving to work (on the obc). Completely impractical driving style involving a lot of lifting n coasting clutch dipping etc but useful to know in case of zombie invasion or other sparse fuel scenario. It can be done
