Always on the lookout for good cafe's or pubs with decent views and good parking for those impromptu back road run outs. Thought it might make for a good thread.

Any recommendations from wherever your neck of the woods is?

I'll keep this list updated on suggestions. Keeping the areas rough as its easier that way, so pedantic police: please don't shoot me down. What I'm also doing is saving these as a bespoke road trip list on my Google Maps account for easy reference.

This thread speaks to me as I've spent a fair bit time over the years searching for places. Our drives always happen early doors on a Sunday and so we only go to places that open for breakfast no later than 9 am.

On the W Sussex/Kent border in Hawkhurst, the Waterside Cafe TN184RT is a very nice spot.

Caffeine + Machine near Leamington CV37 7NS and Torque Moto near Horsham RH12 4QD are obvious choices, although C+M requires paid tickets on the weekend.

Wings Cafe in North Weald Airfield CM16 6HR in Essex.

Just outside the M25 west of Uxbridge you have the Farm Shop Fulmer SL3 6HD, although it's difficult to build a really good driving route in that area.

Pearce's Farm Shop on the A10 near Buntingford SG9 9ND is a lovely spot, easy to get to from some of the best driving roads in the south east.

Super Sausage Cafe on the A5 near Towcester NN12 7QD, although it gets overrun by bikers on the weekend.

For more than 10 years we've been finishing our Thames Valley runs at The Bushe Cafe at Blackbushe Airport GU17 9LQ, which also hosts a car meet once per month advertised on this forum.

The Milk Churn, Old Brickworks, Lynwick Street, West Sussex, RH12 3DH Just over the surrey border
Great cheese on toast good car park and The Fox Inn is just down the road which is also a nice pub
 
If you want to head down to the West Sussex coast, The Bluebird Cafe (South Drive, Ferring, BN12 5QU) is right on the beach - nice food and a lovely view
 
Not too far from Rykas is the cafe at Newlands Corner, Drove Road, Guildford GU4 8SE. They do a good bacon roll and the view of the Downs is pretty spectacular, although there is no indoor seating.

Can get a bit overrun at weekends with Lycra bikers though because the A25 between it and Box Hill was part of the cycling route for the Olympics.
 
Warren house Inn just outside postbridge. Smack bang in the middle of Dartmoor all by itself, wood fire going year round. Lovely central spot going north, South East or West. Bit far from the south east suggestions though :rofl:
 
Great suggestions! Doesn't matter if its north, south, east or west - all suggestions gratefully received and maybe it can help people on future runs out either local or long distance. I'll keep editing the list at the top of the page with updates.

Honey Cafe, Bronllys, Brecon LD3 0LH always popped in for tea and Welsh Cakes on my way back from picking up my son from Aberystwyth Uni. Lovely place, no views from the cafe but so many driving. :driving: :thumbsup:

A few near me in the Highlands

Crafts & Things Glencoe nice views over the loch and handy for the Kinlochleven Loop (drop the other half off in the cafe/giftshop and get peace for a blast round the loop!).
