There are a number in our area which are simply shocking which were reported a long time back by both myself (and clearly other people accordoing to that website someone linked to on here a couple of weeks back).

Nothing has yet been done about them... I'm not sure if the fact they're on major/ main roads into the town is more or less reason for the council to sort them.
 
You should see the state of the roads out here in Afghanistan. I know the tax is a lot, but things could be worse, enjoy the drive while you can :wink:
Looking forward to coming home and getting the old Zed back on the road, no matter the cost it still puts a smile on my face, cant wait. :)
 
Road Tax for a 2.5i in Ireland is running me £930 sterling so ye could have it worse , a Z4M would cost a whopping £1550 a year
 
Tax should be as low as possible and government as small as we can make it. I would privatise the NHS, roads, schools, every damn thing I could. No government will spend tax wisely, they are incompetent and inefficient because the rules and regulations, that are required for public scrutiny, make them so. Remember every pound taken in tax is a pound taken out of your disposable income and the economy as a whole.

The sad fact is, due to the state the previous shower left the public finances in, we are raising taxes when the opposite is what we should be doing.

Indeed. There is a dedicated telephone number for all local authorities where people can ring up to report highway defects including street lighting problems. The CTC (cycling organisation) also encourages it's members to report highways defects to them so that they co-ordinate centrally and notify the relevant local authority. Obviously the highways departments have a legal obligation to inspect roads and pick up defects but they don't do this on a daily basis so they really rely on the general public to notify them of potholes etc.
