ive had a google and seem to get conflicting amounts, how much is road tax on an 05 3l, some sites tell me its in K (£270) but others say L which is £460 :(

im hoping so, after checking insurance itll be an extra £10 a month extra for the 3l over the 2.5, wasnt prepared to stretch for the extra £200 a year tax tho!

We knew what he meant, and people call it Road tax knowing full well its not called that. Its like poll tax, people still call it that, even though its not that any more. It doesn't really matter as long as people understand, which they do.

As a cyclist I always point out that 'road tax' doesn't exist and as this forum has shown there are too many motorists who think that the fact that they pay VED on their cars gives them priority on the roads over other road users.

lol as a car driver and cyclist, I wish you'd spread the message to cyclists that using a road means cyclists should abide by the laws that they've never had to learn and not ride through red lights risking their lives for the sake of a few seconds. Day after day I see this and cringe waiting for a death in front of my eyes. You might have an issue with vehicles, but rest assured cyclists are not perfect either. As a car driver, you had to learn the rules of the road, a cyclist does not and this seems to empower cyclists at times with the feeling that they are right, when in fact, they've not learned any rules of the road, including what a red light means.

As a driver, a cyclist and a motor bike rider, I've seen my share of death on the road, no one is perfect believe me.

Maniac, I don't condone any cyclist breaking the rules of the highway, jumping red lights etc. and they get everything they deserve when they do. However, they will hardly kill anyone but when a car driver does that the fact that that are driving a heavy metal box means severe consequences for any cyclist and pedestrian and very little for the motorist. However, I won't brand all car drivers along with the idiot I was confronted with in a sleepy Northamptonshire village just a couple of hours ago driving a Range Rover coming into the village around a sharp bend whilst on a mobile phone and well over the white line. If I had being doing more then 20mph in my Zed then there would have been serious collision.
So let's not get into the argument of cyclists this, motorists that eh.
