Road tax query

Just received a reminder that my road tax on the Z is due at the end of October. But it has come using the old registration which I changed a couple of weeks ago to put a cherished number on the car. I have the new registration document. Do I go ahead and tax it using this reminder which has a code number for on line use but refers to the old reg?
Any help/advice appreciated.

If you have the new registration document with the new reg number on it just use that online.

Thanks for your reply but you can’t without a special reference number which comes on the reminder and relates to a specific reg. I know my new plate has gone through OK. because I have checked the MOT info. and the new plate is shown there.

You don’t need the number on the reminder you can use the 11 digit reference number on the registration document (V5C) providing it’s the correct number and in your name.
Just ignore the reminder as if it hasn’t arrived.
It’s just a computer generated document

Tried many times over the afternoon and evening to tax the Z online. Each time I got part way through the process and was about to pay when the following message appeared: ‘Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost’. I must have tried thirty times. In the end I tried by telephone. Amazingly it worked first time.
