Road tax costs

The road tax form came in today and it's £325 for a year!
I'm trying to work out how this is catagorised.
Below is a table that states that a car is now taxed on how clean its emissions are.
My V5 says my cars exhaust emissions (Z4 2.5i 2003) are:
CO (g/ke or g/kWh) 0.048
Where does this emissions sit on the table below?
Is the V5 'V Exhaust emissions' the emissions that theh cars tax bracket is based upon?
This is making no sense to me whatsoever.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me please.

New tax year. Possibly just gone up from £315 band K.

How is that complicated? Couldn't be clearer if they tried, imo.

It appears that the CO g/km isn't CO2 emissions :| I checked the emissions on this site
https://www.gov.uk/co2-and-vehicle-tax-tools
Turns out it's - CO2 216 g/km
My confusion was the difference between CO and CO2, Which I now know CO is carbon monoxide and CO2 is Carbon dioxide. I never paid attention in science class lol.
Either way the government are simply using cars as a cash cow more than ever. Maybe I'm moaning because I'm back at uni and have no money :x I never really thought about it before, I just paid because that's what it costs.
Everything seems so expensive when you're skint!

Think yourself lucky you aren't in band ///M  :P

 You're at Uni and driving a Z4....maybe not the most sensible decision to make :poke:

You're far better off investing your student loans in alcohol and women....

I was looking at the scales for new vehicles. If you think that's as clear as they could make it. Then you must work for the council. :P

It really does - maybe my 3.0Si should now become a Z4KC?

But bands haven't changed, it's just the annual increase. I taxed my E90 330i (Band K) on 31 March for £315, but my Z4C isn't due until 30 April so every year it costs a bit more than my daily - just bad timing.

CO (carbon monoxide) and CO2 (car on dioxide) are two completely different gasses. The CO is generated when during a combustion process there isn't enough oxygen to burn. I.e. rich mixture. For the same reason HC- (generic nomenclature for hydrocarbons, i.e. unburnt fuel) appear in exhaust gasses.
