Road suggestions - Winchester to Wrexham

Hi all,

Me and a mate will be driving up to a friend’s wedding on Saturday and coming home on Sunday. The wedding itself is in Wrexham and we’ll be driving from Winchester. I’m taking the Z4 and wondered if anyone can recommend any nice roads that I can visit on the way there or back. I don’t mind taking a few detours etc but also don’t want to be driving hours out of my way. Standard sat nav obviously suggests the motorways etc but I’d like to stretch the z4’s legs a bit.

Well, forget the first 150 miles, but it would be worth heading over to Bala and then maybe onward towards Snowdonia if you have time. Just bear in mind that it's Rally GB this weekend, so there will be a few other people with the same idea (me). :D

As MrPT says the good roads are west of Wrexham,you could break away from the motorway on the M54 and take the Whitchurch turn off,this gives about 50 miles of a roads , just keep an eye out for camera vans around Market Drayton.
 
Thanks for the tips guys! I'll check out the roads on the way home on Sunday as I'll have more time to play. I'll "enjoy" the road when I can see there are no vans about.
