I seem to have suddenly developed terrible road rash on my front bumper - weirdly it seems much worse around the passenger side - Is the paint on the bumper quite soft = anyone else had this and is the best option a respray?
My front bumper and side skirts were the same, full of road rash, I did a DIY repair as a quick touch up and it looks great and can be done for a tenner
This is my write up .. http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=40456
Benny88 cheers for the link - my front bumper looks very much like yours did though the side skirts don't seem to be affected. There has been loads of loose chippings everywhere this summer but I,m always careful on these sections. I,m surprised how quickly the bumper has deteriorated it looked mint when I bought it and i've only put 5k on it. Now its become a speckly mess.
Give it a good machine polish, I did mine recently and from thinking about getting the bumper and side skirts painted, I've decided they don't need doing. I went to dodojuice, got a DA polisher, a polishing and finishing pad, a bottle of lime and prime, did the business on the car ad gave it a nice coat of wax.Looks amazing, no need to paint.

That will be mostly due to the fact the polishing oils/fillers in the lime prime and wax will mask all the chips and make it look mint, keep on top of waxing and it will stay looking good but when your fillers/wax wash off it will return more or less to how it originally looked.
Mine looked great when i bought it, but after a thorough wash and decontamination all is revealed, fillers and wax can hide a multitude of sins.
