Road markings!!!!!

So they're slowing traffic down by introducing uncertainty (confusion?), that's a great way to help road safety.

How about just introducing random road signs that people can't decipher, surely that would work too or maybe putting the green light at the top of traffic lights and red at the bottom.

Totally bonkers.... Probably dreamt up by someone without a license!

Such a stupid idea. The white lines on the road aren't just a guide, they are an almost subconscious warning system... For example they are shorter and closer together as you approach junctions and black spots. As said, lane discipline is s**t anyway, doing this will encourage the idiots on the roads to drive where they like :thumbsdown:

I think thats the idea. You have to drive within your ability. Reduce your ability by taking some tactical information away and you will have to slow down.

It's not on all roads and is in some instances a sensible idea where folks seem to rely on the white line to make them invincible.mthenpurposenisntomslow people down and if it makes them do so then in some places a good idea. Better than speed bumps, chicanes, etc.

Not far different from the removal of barriers at cross roads in some cities. Result is people take more care of their own safety and there are less accidents.

Even removing traffic lights works on some junctions. How many times have you seen them out and the traffic flows better??

But it wont stop those knob heads that don't give a sh$t about road laws and never will, to which I think this idea is mainly intended for.
Some roads around me that don't have white lines, loads of people tend to drive down the middle of the road and give you the dead eye if you shake your head at them as they go by for not pulling over onto their side of the road.
So to me its only going to make matters worse.
