Has anyone got one of these and are they any good?

http://www.roadangelgem.com

One of the annoyances of the bmw NAV is lack if location data for speed cameras.

Thoughts gratefully received.

I have one but the older type and I must admit they are very good as long as they are kept up to date..

I had the optional radar detector as well which was very good at detecting the hand held devices as well..only thing was..it used to scare the living sh*te out of me when it detected the hand held because normally they would jump out on you a and it would go off and warn you with a red screen saying Device Detected...and a buzzer...jeez it certainly let you know..

But overall a great piece of kit ..IMO..

Are you looking at the device on the left, or the hottie on the right?

I'd buy her!

What about the speed camera database on the pocket GPS world web site?
That gives all fixed camera sites and also potential camera sites - think it's about £22/year

I have had a "new" road angel 2 for about 6 years... Hardwired into the Z and always there i like it... The lazer detector doesnt work (as i got caught on a mobile camera last year)

But i like it for the digital speed readout... Which is easier to see then the cars speedo.

I've got a RoadAngel connected, the predecessor to the Gem. It's very good but beginning to fail after 4 years. I nearly bought a gem v2 in Halfords yesterday but RoadAngel do upgrade pricing for owners of older units so I want to check in with them first. The great thing about them is they update themselves, you have to pay a subscription but the unit has a GPRS modem inside it and it polls every few minutes and updates its database.
