That's a lovely part of the world!

In the early 90s I briefly lived on the outskirts of Stroud in Lightpill, and there were so many wonderful places to visit at the weekend.

A magical area. We stayed in a B&B pub a few years ago, great Saturday night, hearty breakfast and then spent Sunday in Chipping Camden.
I work for the local water authority, so spend quite a lot of time in the Cotswold's

Gotta love the Cotswolds Fred. I managed to walk the entire Cotswolds Way in 6 days last September - started in Chipping Camden and finished in Bath, staying in pubs and small hotels along the way. I think water systems are going to be tested to the limit in the next few days - rivers are already at burtsting point around here.

Looks a great area. Looking to have some long weekends down that way when we can seeking out places we would like to move to. Looking forward to driving around the West Country with the top down visiting pretty villages and country pubs. Oh and the odd estate agent.

Prices are a bit silly in some of the prettiest villages but its still possible to find more reasonable prices in outlying areas or larger towns - Stroud as mentioned but Nailsworth and Wotton Under Edge are also worth a look. Cheltenham and Gloucester if prefer even larger towns.

Not visited that end of the Cotswolds, lived in Moreton in Marsh for a few years and still love the area, pop down to visit friends in Chipping Camden regularly

M-in-M is very pretty. We took a drive out there just after lockdown finished and boy was it crowded with visitors.

We stayed in Long Compton last October and explored the area. One place I could recommend was the restaurant at the Hook Norton brewery. You see more Porsche vehicles than Fords on the roads in the area.

Keep the suggestions coming guys. All appreciated. Coming from "Up North" I know the differences in house prices but a small detached on the edge of a market town or large village is what we want. Anywhere from the Wye Valley down to Devon so pretty flexible. Also been recommended Shaftsbury so intend basing ourselves around there for a few days as and when we are allowed. Pootling around the area with the top down appeals.

Shame you are not a celebrity. If you were it seems the going rate is £5k and you can do what the f*ck you like, wherever you like! :)

And when you get caught (all celebrities are) you pay a £200 fine and it's all forgotten, apart from the press coverage which is worth way more.

I spent a good few hours at my brothers house in Oxfordshire today, trying to divert water flooding them out. Managed to sort it out..bloody killer, as I have a Hernia
