Very sad to see we've lost another motorsport icon, ex- F1 driver and '88 Le Mans winner the 7th Marquess of Bute Johnny Dumfries, following a short illness at just 62 years of age.RIP :(

Yeah, read that this morning in the Paper.
Very sad indeed. He spent most of the last ten years living in his ancestoral home in Bute, Stewart house, which me and my wife visited a few years ago,but sadly never got to meet him.

RIP Johnny. :(

He seems to have lived a great life, but 62 is no age (I'll be that next month)!

Hi Craig.

Yes, I was just reading about him now. His real name was John Colum Crichton-Stuart, 7th Marquess of Dumfries and pre'93 was Earl of Dumfries. Apparently he never used his title and more recently just went by the name John Bute :D
Reading between the lines I think he had been poorly for some time. Some very touching Tweets today and sounds to be tremendously well liked and respected as a gentleman and a driver :) 20210323_194103.jpg
