So it continues another great taken from us. My favourite film of his was Midnight Express. What was yours. RIP John

Damn.
One of my favourite actors too.
First recall his performance in Alien. Who could possibly forget that chestburst scene??
Then a myriad of other splendid films.
Think the last memorable performance at least for me was '44 inch chest' ('faaaack orrrf you cant!'') lol
A true character actor.
Rip.

Possibly one off the greatest of all time. Agree with op Midnight Express was right up there with the very best. Put me of going to Turkey for many years.

A great actor and will be missed, but leaves a huge filmography with lots of fine and memorable performances. With a voice that is both remarkable and recognisable.

That legendary chest scene from Alien but for me it has to be V for Vendetta

Another vote for Alien chestburster scene, apparently he was the only actor in the scene that knew what was going to happen and it shows in some of the other actors faces. Also Midnight Express was classic and who can forget his voice talents in Watership Down. :D

RIP Sir John

An all time great. Just finished watching Midnight Express for the 50th time bought a tear to my eye :(

Toss up between Midnight Express and Alien for me. Amazing how John could be a supporting actor but at the same time the most memorable character in a film.

RIP John Hurt, English gentleman.

Had the pleasure of meeting him once, years ago - he was a very nice guy, a complete gent. So sad, losing yet another talented actor, so many memorable films - Midnight Express, Alien ... and that cameo in Spaceballs still makes me smile

He was blessed with that fantastic voice; one to look out for is the War Doctor audio series.

Blimey. Decided to watch 'jackie' tonight, film about aftermath of jfk's assassination and JOhn Hurt is in it playing a priest and looking positively haggard!
Was this his last film?
