Very sad news indeed, I had the pleasure of hearing him talk about his life and career a year or so ago through my work. He was a truly inspirational man who will be sorely missed in the flying community.
Very very sad. He was a real hero to me. I have read I think everything that he has written. There are also a couple of good bios to be had on YouTube. What a guy ! He had an unbelievable number of types in his logbook. Actually thinking about it not so sad. A magnificent innings from a magnificent man. Let's celebrate his life and contribution to aviation in the 20th century.
Surprisingly diminutive guy. He was at Duxford last year signing books - an amazing life in aviation which is often overlooked and not known about. He remains an important part of British Aviation history. R.I.P.
