Ring trip - any interest

Subscribing to the thread because I'm interested.

Midweek trip is the way to go IMHO, I was there in late August and did a couple of laps midweek and didn't find it to be overly intimidating at all. If you're going to push yourself for a quick lap then go for insurance, it's a track that can bite hard. But if you just have a warm lap and enjoy the track there's really nothing to be worried about.

It's certainly something I think every petrol head should have a go at, it's a great experience.

You pays your money you takes your chance :) hopefully you won't need a chopper airlift...pricey...or stop track time....pricey...

This is part of the thrill though...great drive and any mistake could mean you lose your car and remortgaged house...priceless lol...it's got to be done!

Spa is great too, much better driving experience and less anguish...do both!

Tourist dates have so far only been announced upto the end of March...........will continue to monitor for the remaining dates.................................March could be a goer though, but would have to be a last minute thing due to the weather (snow/ice).

For now, will await further dates.

Guys,

If anyone is thinking of doing the Ring then read this......

I did the ring a few years ago in my S2K.. and i thought it was fantastic... however the cops were a total ass... and on one day there were a load of lads in old fiesta's with roll cages and god knows what engines driving like total idiots - they thought they owned the road.

One of the lad's car broke down within the perimeter and we had to push him a couple of hundred meters for him to be recovered.. which was quite exciting - and again the cops were an ass!

The tourist dates have now been announced for the whole of 2011.

I'll have a study over the next few days and suggest some dates.

I'd be interested in this especially if it's an early summer date. My mate's keen to take his M3 over as well.

Would be interested depending on time of year as im booked up through summer. Concerned about the insurance issue though. I have trackday insurance but only for organised events. If you could get details on group insurance for all of us I will go.

Cheers

I've been thinking about heading over for a while with a few friends, would be interested to see what you guys get together...dependant upon date i'd be good to go. :D

After a very busy week frantically trying to sorting the car out which involved heading to Simpsons for my supersprint manifold install, then over to Evolve for a remapp :D (Best thing ive done), followed by a trip to my local tyre shop for some new rubber :) and finally a good 3 hour car cleaning stint ahead of my trip (pointless as Adeneu seemed to be completely covered with pollen  )

Anyway, that said, we set off on Friday morning and got there on Friday afternoon, only to find they place very busy to the point of not getting any lap time - i think this was the busiest it had been for some time. With this in mind, we decided on an early 8am start the following day just to beat the crowds :driving: ... thankfully many peops had gone home on Friday so Saturday AM was much quieter.

As always, there were a few accidents, mainly bikers though..... BTW I did see saw a few UK Z'ds (3/4) there including a nice looking "Sixspeed Esc" white coupé,...... who not sure if they are on here.

Will upload some pics and vids once i've edited them. :)

I'm off over there weekend of May 21st/22nd with a trackday booked at Spa on the 23rd

I've been a few times over the years and looking forward to a "leasurly" few laps just for old times sake and the main focus on going fast at Spa where it'll be quieter (track day rather than WackyRaces weekend at the Ring!)

And this is why I ensure I include weekday Ring time into my schedule.

I haven't forgot about this trip, just had a few unexpected 'life' things thrown at me this year :x

Will look at dates and get back soon with some suggestions.

Not sure exactly, as it;s a stat I don't particular like keeping...

I recall having 1/4 of a tank and after 2 laps i had to drive down to Eds garage on fumes..

Approx how much do you end up spending on gas there & back?

Your roughly the same distance from Dover as I am, I would expect to do the whole trip on about 3-4 tank fulls. It's only about 275 miles from Calais.

That is of course dependent on what you doing once in the Eifel region and how many laps you do, but 4 max would do me.
