Hi guys,

I have recently bought 4x Alloys for my Z4, 255x35x17 however after scanning this forum alot of people are saying that they are running 9j on the back and 8.5j on the front... The alloys I have bought are 7.5j all round, does this mean they aren't the right width for the car? Or is it simply a case that have wider alloys improves grip and handling?

regards,
Brad

The staggered oem set up on the Z4 was 8'' fronts and 8.5'' rears.

Firstly I would consider a 255 tyre too wide for a 7.5 inch rim.

Secondly the tyre profile is different from the original 17 inch rim which runs on 225/45/17s all round on a 2.2 Zed.

There is no problem running on 7.5s all round but what is the offset figure for the wheels you have bought? That will establish if they fit at all.

I believe it's 35? Rang the guy, he said they fit a z4, I liked to rims so bought them, I never knew alloys were so complicated so literally trusted the sellers advice...

They will fit it's just simply a case of how well they fit.
You will have a slight speedometer differential due to the tyre profile and as I said the tyre is a bit wide for the rim width but they can still be fitted.
Are you sure the tyre width is 255 and not 225?

Honestly I dont think they are a 255, I just looked up generic tyre sizes for that size of alloy. I will take the alloys to the local performance shop and get the right tyres fitted to them...

What advice would you give me in terms of tyres to fit these alloys? Will it literally only be 1 tyre that will fit or will i have the choice of certain sizes and whatnot? I want these alloys to look as lovely as they can on the zed and honestly dont really know what im doing :)
