Ride quality on 19" wheels

Hi guys, I'm looking for some help from you guys. I'm looking to change my wheels to 19s from std 18s. I'm looking at ACS reps. I know most guys wont appreciate it but to me I need some black wheels on 19s and love the look of ACS in Black. I've some questions.
1) People who have changed the wheels on their M to 19- what is the ride quality on them?- I like the current ride not too harsh as compared to the RFTs on the 17s i had on the 2.5i.
2) WIll i have to lower suspensions or do any other alterations when I go to 19s. I'm areal noob so not much idea about it.
3) Anybody who have had black wheels can u post pics. I've looked at some with M3 wheels on them. But I'm looking at something different. I dont want to replicate either M6 or M3.
4) Finally my local stealer was doing a deal on 20" ACS wheels with tyres for £1699 without wider rears but when I asked him he said he can use a spacer and shouldnt be a problem. is it true, i know i wont be going back to him for the wheels(out of my budget).

cheers for ur replies.

I went from 16" RFTs to 18" F1s on my Z4 and the ride was still better. I switch back and forth between the stock 18s with PS2s and my CSLs with P-zeros and the ride is noticeably harsher on the latter. Not horrible, but clearly different, especially on bad roads.

Unfortunately Uk roads are not great, lots of uneven surfaces, bumpy rides anyway with potholes. My wife wasnt too kenn on RFTs but with NRFTs on the M she is quite happy. I dont want to spoil it caoz i cant be bothered to hear her moan all the time she gets into the car. already she moans enough.. WOMEN

im going to be honest i have not noticed any difference on my change to 19"CSLs. its somethink i was quite worried about, but it played out perfectly for me. And the looks are to die for!!

I wounded about the difference in ride quality too

Some say it's no different, others say its worse and the odd person says it's better on CSL with PS2's

From what I've read a few guys have gone down the 19 CSL route and changed them back to 18's, both track users and daily drivers

So I'm not sure who to believe tbh. It's always the same on the internet, it's very difficult to get an independent review when someone’s just spent 2K on wheels, it's probably a case of 18' wheels with PS2 offering the best ride comfort, but 19 CSL look so fecking cool and you lose a little compliance, steering feel and decreased MPG

I really want a ride in a CSL equipped car to know for myself

I'm on 19' CSLs at the moment. The ride is slightly harder but its not a significant change and for me the trade off against the looks makes it worthwhile. I also feel that the grip is better with the 19s but that could be down to ditching the Conti's for Vreds.

I wouldn't buy replicas though, they may give you problems down the line but that's just my personal opinon.

I wouldnt too but cant find any original ACS 19s in black. I'm not too much a fan of CSL. I love the ACS though. It has got me thinking a lot.

You will regret going to 19". Your car will "tramline" forever & probably put you into a ditch or kill a family coming the other way in a "head on"... Let's see what happens.

You patently have no idea what you are talking about and have never driven one of these cars on 19's. In fact from your expressed views you probably have never driven one at all.

I had no issues when changing from 18" Conti's to 19" PS2's, quite the reverse. The car handled better and any tramlining issues that the Contis produced all but disappeared. The ride is always going to be firm on these cars regardless of your tyre choice. For me the PS2's are excellent and the 19" PS cups are fantastic in the dry. The looks alone would push me to buy the 19's but I promise you there are no adverse issues in running them over the 18's. And that's from someone who's driven the car on both sizes of wheel for 2 years all over Britain and Europe in all sorts of weather, not from an internet troll who pretends to have knowledge of a car.

Mike, Didn't you once claim to own the ACS Demo car on PH ? How did that ride, im guessing it was on 20's?

Agree...

A lot will also depend on the tires (sidewall height, stiffness) when you upsize from 18's to 19's.

I've had a lot of seat time in my cars with both 18's and 19's. Last week I put my 19" BBS RGR's back onto the car 'cos I was curious how they'd look on my Z4MC. I was planning to keep them on the car until the summer's over. The next day I decided to mount the 18's back again. In my case, the ride is just more comfortable and smoother with the 18's. Fewer interior cracking/rattling noises.

I must be getting old, because I'm actually fine with the way 18" wheels look on my car and don't absolutely need/want 19's anymore.

Shittingbull/mike always makes things interesting. Thanks for ur advice guys. Now again, i'm a bit confused. I dont want to buy new wheels which are 18s and at the same time make my ride more hard. As said before my ride is much better than the RFTs 17s on my previous 2.5i. decisions decisions. :?

No, it was on 19" ACS (Crap & corroding around the valve stems after 9 months - At £995.00 for each wheel) rims. If somebody can tell me how to post pictures on this forum I'll post pictures of the car & the pictures of the corrosion that were emailed to AC Schnitzer Germany - who didn't want to honour their guarantee for £4000 of wheels... I wouln't buy another product from AC Schintzer ever again. As stated before, the car was an absolute "tramline" disaster on 235/35 fronts & 265/30 rears. Yet my Z4MR on factory wheels/tyres is straight & true.. ?

Posting pictures... there is a whole thread about it here
