Rhythmic clunking sound

Hi all, I have a rhythmic clunking sound coming I think from under the car, it is more noticeable with the roof up, hence I don't know how long it's been there, with the roof down it is very faint, with the roof up it is louder. It seems worse over very uneven surfaces when the car rocks about more. I have made sure the wheel nuts are tight. Has anyone else had this, thanking you in advance. Mike.

Does it change with revs, or road speed?

If you go 30mph in 2nd, is it more frequent that in 5th? (I.e. - is it the CSB failing, for example?)

Front droplinks are an easy thing to check, and a frequent failure point. You can just grab them and pull on them, see if they move or not...

Thank you for your reply TriggerFish, It's more noticeable when I'm driving up our road where we live so I'm going about 20 to 30mph any faster and I'm bouncing all over the place and the wife starts complaining. :) On a smooth surface it doesn't seem to be there. I will have a look, it's in for an MOT soon so they might find something, Mike.

As Triggerfish says droplinks can sound like the worlds falling apart Mikey, those or a bush somewhere, no biggie for either.

It does sound sort of rubbery, if I have time over the weekend I will take the wheels off and have a look, thank you John-e89:thumbsup:

It could be as simple as an exhaust mount loose. Giving the tailpipes a good shake will soon tell.

I usually ask the other half to stand on the car sill and jump up and down vigorously if I need to track a noise

She loves that😶😶😶
