RFT to non-RFT. Loss of sharpness??

I know most of you have already ditched your rft tyres. Have you experienced a loss of sharpness pointness (does this word exist?)? If so have you done anything to make up for the loss of it? I have the feeling that most of you, have 18 inches wheels together with sport suspension. My coupe has 17 in wheels paired with standard suspension (thank god here in Greece sport suspension wasn't standard on 3.0 cars) so the effect may be a little more pronounced on my car. I am looking forward to hearing your points.

The 17''s higher sidewalls can certainly give you that feeling. There will be some reduction in response caused by lateral movement of the sidewall, compared to the RFT which has a stiff support liner in that area. Much less noticable in 18 and 19 for sure, specially when UHP tires are chosen.

I was worried about that.. :( How about that? The lower unsprung mass of non rft tyres, how is it going to affect my car performance wise?

Lighter wheel and tire assembly improves acceleration/stopping times (slightly), as well as handling. Steering action reaches the tire footprint faster when mass is reduced, simple physics (less mass to move). But in your case, this is somewhat offset by the additional sidewall absorption (which increases steering action delays).

IMHO on 18's any perceived greater softness in sidewalls (which after my 2nd set of non RFT's I've still not noticed) would be more than compensated for byt he non RFT's staying planted to the road and not bouncing and crashing about...

Interestingly ///M's run on non RFT's, have a higer sidewall profile than standard 18" users and you don't hear ///M drivers moaning, albeit they do have hydraulic steering as a plus

Yes Ms don't have rft . But they also have differen- sportier suspension.

Not much different to the sport suspension that's lower & stiffer, but granted they do
