Revs low and occasional stalling whilst idling

Afternoon all,

Could anyone assist me with diagnosis of the following symptoms?

2007 2.0 E85 - 107,000 miles.

1. The car starts fine, but once warm the idle speed feels a bit grumbly and low. 800rpm ish.

2. After running for a while, when you come to a stop at the lights and the car is idling, occasionally the revs will just die down to nothing and the engine will stall. You can prevent it when you feel it's about to happen by applying some throttle.

Is this a common issue? What should I check? No engine management light showing.

Cheers!

Sorry, no idea about your issue...
just wanted to say congrats on submitting your seventh post in eight years - must be a record :D
A bit like having a new forum member; welcome.
I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a more constructive response!

Lots of possible causes - first step should be getting/borrowing a code reader to see if anything is stored. I had not dissimilar symptoms on my 3.0SI a couple a years ago. In my case the codes pointed to a faulty Vanos solenoid (oil control for variable valve timing) which was a very easy DIY replacement.

Good luck!
