Well, I thought I would share my recent experiences of the upgrades on my N20 28i, and how they have transformed the car into something special.

We all know the E89, is a gentleman’s car great cruiser – but its native form, not the best handling car – and is quite vague in its handling.
I will not dwell on the engine, now running @ stage 2 – however what I will say that E89 3.0is referred it to the bullet, and could not believe how quick it was, on take off. Even Z3 M’s were surprised and could not believe it was an 2 Ltr engine. As I know, a lot of you frown upon the N20 since its a true BMW as it is only a four cylinder compared to a straight six.

I believe my target at Santa Pod @ at the BMW show to been below 14 secs is achievable, However.

I have installed KW’3 on the car and has totally transformed its behaviour – it feels much more connected to the road, without been harsh and its ability of speed bumps is better than OEM. I thought it was a placebo effect initially, but from last Sunday – I realised it had evolved from a cruiser to a sports car.

Over last weekend, we did the Oopnurthring in the peak district, and there are some fantastic driving roads in that part of the country, and below are details of the route we completed.

I did not have much opportunity to view the fantastic views, but any driving enthusiast I would recommend to try this out.
I was very nervous my E89 leading the pack of E85’s and Z3M’s – ensuring that my car and my driving was able to provide them a good experience. I must confess the E89 did not let me down; it has become the car I wanted it to be, the ability of turn in on sharp corners – and been handle sweeping corners with creating ease. To the point it was out performing these other cars.

I must confess that I would not been able to drive in the manner I did - with stock suspension - on reflection how the car handled the uneven roads - and sudden dips was such an revelation - compared to its previous setup. And taking onboard the 28i is reputed to been a better handling car from stock compared the 35i, as it has an simular weight to an E85 and is 100KG lighter than its bigger brother.

So if you feel that your E89 handling is letting you down, I can honestly recommend adding KW’3 as they made the car as it should have been – more driver focused.

nice review

Ive got sat in the garage some eibachs and HR anti roll bars waiting to go on , the Z4 is not a nice place to be on the twisties as stock

Hoping my mods will improve things , if they dont I'll have to stump up for the KW3'S!

Well I thought share some recent developments.

I have recently received confirmation from an rolling road that my N20 28i has BHP of 308BHP and 327Lbft - so it has more power than a 35i. However I think more power is available - but the IAT temp went sky high - therefore the boost would be reduced.

The limitation is its very suspectical to heat and IAT temperature is a factor to its performance.

I have been comparing to an friends 135iM - on an private road from an rolling start @ 30MPH - and there was no difference between them upto 90 MPH - however the quick gear changes and displacement the 135iM was starting to creap forward.

Being a newbie with a 28i also it's not good for the wallet reading these posts!

Be interested hear what you have done get to where you are on power figures? Thanks
