Review my Geo settings

Finally got round to having my geometry set up after having all the suspension work completed.

I was going for the CSL geo settings as per below:

And this is how I got the car back:

They said I need adjustable rear arms to get the correct camber on the rear. Does anybody have any comments on the current setup? I'm clueless when it comes to geometry settings.

Nice and precise, looks like they took a bit of care with it. Most places I've ever been to over the years just get it there or thereabouts.

I was told I'd need camber arms to reduce the rear camber so you're not alone on this. Personally I'd just leave it as is, it's hardly excessive imo and should feel nice and pointy compared to a stock setup.

you don't want to reduce rear camber.... its set quite high in the rear stock for a reason.

looks pretty god damn good to me, would be nice to see zero toe up front i guess....

It's set high as stock to promote understeer as a safety net for those that can't drive properly. I don't need that safety net (touch wood) so adjustable rear arms have been ordered

Rather than looking to reduce grip at the rear (and possibly add to outer shoulder wear) could you look at increasing front grip to get the balance you're looking for?

I thought it was a pretty well known fact, that BMW set up the car purposefully to understeer when thing gets a bit hot. It's well documented in pretty much every journo's review of the car. Also from my own experiences on track, It's evident.

However, if I've got that wrong then please feel free to educate me

thats correct, but rear camber doesn't promote or cause understeer at the front.... or at least no where near as some of the other settings, choices bmw made with the z4m.

You can reduce negative camber at the rear to around -1deg by adjusting the eccentric bolt Part 10 in the diagram.



You will have reduced lateral bodyroll with your KW Clubsports suspension, so IMO you want to reduce rear camber from OEM settings but you don't want to make it zero. I've found the minimum setting on the eccentric bolt is perfect with aftermarket suspension. Personally, I don't think you need adjustable rear arms and I'd spend the money on something else.

you definitely dont need aftermarket arms unless your car is on the miniumum height setting of the CS.
