Reversing camera retrofit?

Anyone know if you can retrofit the OEM reversing camera and it just works? Appreciate I’d need the boot lid handle trim with the camera holder too but thought that the loom with plug to connect the camera into would already be there (I can’t imagine BMW fitting options specific looms to the car).

I’ve looked at aftermarket options that integrate with the idrive and whilst doable, looks quite involved with extensive trim removal and cable routing.
 
These things all come as packs so wouldn’t surprise me if the additional looms were added to match the packs at time of order
 
Did you ever find out if this was doable? I would imagine its not cost effective to create a separate loom for each option pack so the wires are probably there (i recall seeing a couple of loose plugs in mine while i was digging around in the boot recently), but you might need to enable the function in the ECU (probably a cost at a BMW dealer).

If you did, how much were the parts/activation cost?
