reversed into!!

Just had the car reversed into. Woman in a new corsa slowly kept backing up and didn't stop. Scraped and a slight crease across where the door and front wing meet. Damage is two parts, one scrape above the other through the paint to primer about 5 inches long. usual exchange of details and a call Monday to the Insurance companies.

Question is, anyone had this? and would it be a panel replace or full door and wing repair and paint?

Check to see if you can report it to them before Monday.

Pics might give people a better idea of the damage and possible costs.

Might not be worth going through the insurance if it's just a small fix.

first thing i did was check opening times. Adrian Flux close 13:00 on a sat. open Monday so i'll do it first thing then.

Those won't be panel replacements. Panel beaten and painted. Do you have at least one independent witness to the accident? I ask because the woman's account of the circumstances/fault of the accident could be vastly different to what she said to you once she contacts her insurance. ALL insurance companies tell policy holders to NOT accept any initial blame/fault for obvious reasons. You may find that your next years premium increases somewhat due to a claim regardless of who is at fault. Unfair, I know.

Is it worth the going through the insurance for that?

Probably a couple of hours work at most for a decent paint shop I would think.

I obviously don't want to pay a penny for the fix. Definitely couldn't be bothered chasing a fix privately once her hubby starts saying "I know a guy how can do it half that price" type s**t.

I checked with my insurance and no premium increase. I was parked and she reversed into me. They've google street mapped it the lot so know the situation, she has been very good to be fair and is devastated she didn't look in her mirror. She has put the claim through online as her fault.

Its all going through her insurance ( Aviva ) they've already emailed to arrange a call tomorrow so no bother for me.

silver has always been hard to match on previous cars I've had so hope it don't look a different shade in the sun

A couple of hours work , definetley not . They may not be able to straighten the wing completely so perhaps a skim of filler or even a replacement wing and that's before it gets prepped ready for paint . I think from experience if the wing and door gets painted they may as well paint the rear quarter panel

And there's no way i'd accept filler either, nor should i have to i don't think. My insurance company said they would be pushing for it to be in BMW this week.

It was said by Mark555 earlier - your next years premium might go up - regardless of blame, so its worth claiming for these as an uninsured loss !

Like Mark555, I've been caught out like this as well! Ok mine was only £15 a year - but we have three cars and that penalty lasted for a few years! Then when you are getting quotes its all the extra detail of the event to be filled in - a chore!

nope, checked with my insurer and my premiums are not effected in the slightest as my cover isn't being touched. All moneys are claimed to her insurance. Also very simple to sort as I was parked and she reversed into me out of her space and it was on a public road not a car park. She has exerted blame ( not that she couldn't, my car wasn't even running ) so its pretty straight forward claim. I'm just too busy to be spending any of my time getting quotes and then chasing payment from her. Thats what we pay insurance for. I'll get a cover car for a few days too which is needed.

Despite what your insurance says about your premiums not affected they will. I have just had a no fault claim and they put the renewal up as I am now classed as at risk!!!!!. These insurance companies are all asses.

If it does go up I just change insurance companies as I pay yearly. I'm pretty positive that after I show them the letter I asked for advising no premiums will be affected they'll back down.

And then they simply say, " But the rise in your insurance costs is simply a standard increase across the board sir. All motor insurance has risen in the last year due to increased claims, administrative charges, tax, and to sustain our high profits. Don't you realise we have shareholders to keep happy sir?" :headbang:

Not true.

Some companies will load for a no fault accident, some won't. You've got one that does and OP has one that doesn't. The problem is, who stays with an insurance company for longer than 1 year. The majority change each year and the OP could well be changing to a company that will load him.

One thing is for certain - insurance companies don't respect customer loyalty !
They just increase the premium to a level they can get away with.

Its true all right , I searched internet for best quotes and all of them were a lot higher than previously and with higher excess too. :x
so I stayed with my current company as there price was very similar but with lot lower excess and more benefits
