Reverse chime

Doing some maintenance for a euro road trip I have coming up and noticed a unplugged wire under the steering column

Being inquisitive I plugged it back in started the car and then put it into reverse and the chime started

I'm probably going to leave it plugin in, well until it annoys me as per the last owner

Anyone else have his disabled?

Mine has PDC and only chimes when I get near an object. Even if you don't have PDC does it make a noise when you reverse ? I guess mine may have been disconnected then...

Yes all UK cars have the horrible 'boing' once reverse is engaged unless coded off or unplugged. The PDC beep is different.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wire was discounted at the factory if it was UK bound

Had mine since new, never unplugged anything and it's never bonged when I've engaged reverse.

Is it a 3.0SE feature?

Do they bong just the once? (without pdc fitted)

It continually bongs once reverse is engaged, only stops to allow the PDC beep or until reverse is disengaged

Well I am glad mine doesn't do it - Bing is not overly fond of bongs in his car :D

How do you feel about Bongs in general?

I think they have their time and place, but never in a car :D
