Reupholster M seats?

Not sure if this should be on a different board or whether I should post twice over on the e85 too?

I have an e85 3.0se with M sport seats, the full electric and heated malarkey. Been trying for ages to find red as a replacement for the black, but no joy.

I had the seats coloured red with the fall back of reupholstered if not good enough and I'm not overly impressed - they're ok, but not great.

I'm after a decent rather than a luxury reupholster job being done and it's only the M seats, nothing else.

I'd also like to know how do we get the base seat off the motor unit? I've searched everywhere and looked at it myself, even had the leather colour guy and his motor technician do the same, but nothing, anywhere - it ain't coming off without a fight.

As for a reupholster, £500 is my budget. Thanks.
 
I doubt you will get the Seats reupholstered for £500..

The 2 people I have used are john at Bespoke upholstery in Birmingham and Jim at auto trim in Manchester...

Both excellent and with a call... I dare say you may have to up your budget though ..

Johnny Essex has had his seat recovered, maybe worth PM'ing him to see what he paid..
 
The squab is fastened in by a few torx and comes out with its metal pan/base From memory you remove the trim on the sides and that gives access.

Only takes a few seconds to figure out with the seat upside down on the bench.
 
Thanks for all the responses, very helpful. Messaged J Essex in the past as I recall and the work was top notch.

As for the seat disassembly, I looked underneath (as did the mech separately) and there's nothing obvious to see. The standard seats are straight forward, but the electric ones, even after trying to remove the housing, was a thankless task.

Any images of a successful separation out there would be extremely helpful.
 
I had mine done for £700, a few months later the same place was on wheeler dealer's. Three years on the seats are fine

From what I can remember JE paid about £800 but I think it should have been more.

As above, think you might have to up your budget for a decent job.

I was considering getting the seats and door cards in my coupe done and the quotes I got were £800 - £1200
