Returning to the Z4 after 15 years! (Bought a broken one)

Hey!

First of all, awesome forum. I have been looking around and reading so much useful information. Fair play!

So I bought my first Z4 in 2004 (grey 2.2) and loved it until a the arrival of my daughter forced us to part ways. It happens!

15 years later, I’ve decided to jump back in feet first and just picked up a very tidy 2003 3.0i. Everything about the car is spot on, except for LOADS OF THINGS!! Haha

The most important one right now is the roof motor and having it relocated into the boot as mine has 100% died. You guys really helped me out diagnosing it - thanks!

First question then is, who in Lancashire/Manchester would you recommend to undertake the work?

I’ll post some pics once the god awful wheels have been refurb’d and returned to silver. Oh yeah, it’s got a factory green roof too! Lovely :(

Micky

LoL,. Welcome... Seen a few with autumn green roofs. How to people let them get like that. Enjoy your refurb and then get some well earned miles in. :driving:

Is it that one on autotrader for £2100 ? looks like a bargain if so

Hey Jamie.. Yeah it's the one on auto trader. Got a few extra hundred knocked off. The body is pristine on it, but there's just a few niggles. Just means I can fettle with it over time, which is the whole point eh? haha

The roof is actually factory green, not dirty green! Why would anybody order it in that colour?

I have booked it in with the Zed-Shed in Newton-Lee-Willows - anybody have any experience with them?

Welcome to the forum, green roof, you say ? Been looking on the forum for some time now, you say?
If that were true, you would know it's the law to post pictures of the green roofed Zed :poke:
Oh, did anyone mention photos
:worthless:

here you go HeyMicky, these are the pics off autotrader

Hi and welcome to the madhouse.

I had a couple of jobs done by Mike before he opened the Zed-Shed and was very pleased with what he did for what it cost, but there was a bit of an issue on here a while ago where he didn't exactly cover himself in glory.

But he seems to know his way around these cars, so if he does a good job and you pay after you know it's done I'd use him again.

Amazing - thanks Jamie! Hero!

That's the one... She's in for an alloy wheel refurb and roof dye today so will upload some new pics this weekend. Also in desperate need of a deep clean and polish. A task for the weekend!

Jamie sorted it out... I'll get some new ones up this weekend once she's looking a little prettier!

Thank you sir!! Thanks for the advice of Zed Shed... I am heading over there on Saturday, but will heed your advice.

Your welcome mate. I'm a bit jealous as I was after it myself, recon youve got one of the cheapest MOTed Z4s in the country there, tatty 2.2s sell for over 2k

Awww sorry I beat you to it mate  Had to be a bargain as I ended up paying well under 2k for it.

Just had the alloys refurbed - already looking better!

Sweet looking zed, not seen a radio like that in a zed before. Are you sure the roof is green, it just looks faded in the photos.

The radio was the lower end satnav option. The roof is what was sold as grey- but does look green over time.

Looks like the the roof should dye to black.
