Good morning all!

Very pleased to be returning to the club of Z4MC ownership :driving: :D

Not had chance to take any pics, however, the link below shows the car as the previous owner purchased it from classic modern cars.

https://www.classicmoderncars.co.uk/BMWZ4M2

Since my first Z4MC, I feel I have been lucky, to of owned a C63 (W204), M4 Competition, M2, 911 Carrera S (991), and now a Defender as a daily. This is the first manual I have owned, since my first Z4MC, and I have missed it.

The previous owner has done very miles, so the car is still under 16k miles. I will be booking it in with BM Euro in Wolverhampton to give it an inspection 2, change diff oil and brake fluid, given how little is has been driven.

Few things I am hoping you guys can help me with:

  • Can the Ctek be connected via the lighter?
Is it possible to use a AUX to USB C adapter and connect that to my iPhone for music? I have read the struggles of messing with the DSP system, so ideally, would like to avoid.
What would be the simplest solution to DAB radio?

Really looking for to put some miles on the car. My first Z4MC was white, wasn't sure how the Ruby Black would compare, very pleased with it.

Welcome back to MC ownership.

I always find it hard to understand why people buy cars like these then hardly use them. :?

Anyway Ruby Black looks stunning in bright sunlight, it's just a constant challenge keeping it clean - as I discovered with my first Z4.

Personally I'd connect a charger to the jump start terminals at the back of the engine bay, although the lighter socket might work as it is permanently live on E85/86s.

I'm sure some people on here have used the CD-changer connection to connect other devices for music streaming.

I hope you use it more than the previous owner. :driving:

Welcome back! You've had some nice cars in between, and interesting to see you go back to a ZMC! looks like a rare find, the seats look almost new!

With regards to music, yes you can simply do that with the aux cable. You won't have control of the phone through the car controls, that's all. Again you could then in theory use a radio app on your phone for DAB, but again the issue of not being able to touch the phone whilst driving. I have never bothered going further than this, as I rarely use the car and it's even more rare that I have any music on.

Hi & welcome fellow MC...

Can the Ctek be connected via the lighter?
The hardwire kit that comes as std is really easy to instal to the battery- just rem it's recommended to put black wire (neg) on the body & there's a convenient relay with nut/bolt nearby which does the job nicely

Is it possible to use a AUX to USB C adapter and connect that to my iPhone for music? I have read the struggles of messing with the DSP system, so ideally, would like to avoid.
have you checked under the air conditioning controls as it curves underneath, as depending on the year there is sometimes an AUX connector there. Another option is a GROM BT3 so you can answer calls & play music

What would be the simplest solution to DAB radio?
not sure antenna is that compatible... IMO with the GROM can use mobile for internet radio.... however, should you fit a Grupps or other induction kit, you wont bother much with music

Thank you for all the comments, and advice. I have ordered a AUX to USB C, I think that will do the trick, I also do not think I will have music on too often.

Tom, interior is very clean, so is exterior given the age. I feel like I’ve had some decent cars but I definitely took my first Z4MC for advantage as it was my daily, I’m appreciating more this time round.

Ctek has been plugged into the lighter, seems fine, the Ctek had the first 7 lights on last time I checked.
