Retrofitting X3 Navigation Pro harness for Z4

Thanks for the part no though i did it without the plugs. I spliced the 3 wires behind the radio connector. But what the hell is the purpose of the blue yellow one? And where to connect it? I found no corresponding color in main loom. Does this serve the monitor output? Probably this could fix it?

Well still thinking and trying to sort out the issues..
Open issue:
Waht is the purpose of the yellow blue cable?
Where to splice?
Next steps:
Getting a new cid display for testing purposes
Checking right coding with navpro
Checkking whether loom has an interruption somewhere

Ithink these are the main issues. Any further ideas?

hi,
after 1h of further investgation, i conclude:
- i was checking if there is a difference between splicing behind stereo and behind driver seat= no difference. also saw that the lines are not broken (checking with voltage measuring device)

- blue yellow cable is in the plug behind driver seat, could be spliced there. but again, no improvement.will solve a problem at a later stage, i suppose

- ordered new cid and new cid radio to check if hardware is faulty

starting to hate this mod... o.k, trying to keep cool and waiting for new hardware and navcoder interface to work on next steps..

by the way- could someone of you try to remove the cid radio and to see whether the display still shows a picture or not? i believe that there is a picture on the monitor when device is removed! will help me in debugging problem..

I'm guessing it's the wiring, if I get chance at the weekend I will take pic of the loom where it attached to the main loom as this may help.

thanks srhutch for following up.
well, yesterday i received my resler interface and the navcoder software to check the right coding of the mk4.
it was already correctly coded by myself with INPA (so new learning: no resler interface necessary, again 60 euro burnt)
so, finally, i'll a new CID control today, but since i believe that the entire installation should run properly without the control,
i suppose not to have a fixing at this stage. only mk4 and the wiring remain...
again, i kindly ask you guys to provide a comprehensive explanation for the x3 wiring .. would help a lot!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I can't believe that it took me 2 weeks to retrofit the nav sat wit x3 loom.
But finally, I did it! The main mistake was wrong wiring (issue with "-" cable). anyway, everything is fine now.
Thanks for your help, but finally, I have to found the right direction on my own and i was very concerned to
read all the myths and rumour how to install the system appropriately. let's give some more explanation:

- x3 loom works perfect
(a) just remove the 2 big black plugs
(b) splice directly behind the stereo the kbus, plus and the purple cable - no problem!!
(c) connect "-" cable to a audio "-" spot
(d) connect black/White wire to speedometer, cable pin 6
(e) blue/yellow cable seems not to be an issue at this stage
(f) yellow red and yellow brown cable to stereo, pin 5 and 11

finally, it could make sense to build an iso adapter to easy installation :.)

that's it!

- no need of navcoder etc. to code navi - inpa does this job perfectly!
- entire installation doesn't need a new headunit - also business navi headunit works, only an issue with the monitor off option - if you do select menu on the flap monitor and the cursor on the business headunit points on monitor off, both monitors are turned off - hence i used the original cid control

I love this mod though it costs me so much time due to my stupid mistake. and i ordered all devices twice
just to be sure not to have faulty ones. but it was me.

- by the way i also upgraded the cid radio and the air thing (dont know the english word) in black having the facelift look

if you need comprehensive support, don't hesitate to touch base. I'm now a nav pro expert since I've spend tons of hours in my car:-)

well done! sorry to see it took so long, but the result looks like it was worth it!! is the cid from x3?

Hello from Spain to all users of this forum.
I am very happy with you, is a very technical forum and a lot of information.
I have a bmw z4 3.0i 2003.
I have read the information for installing navigation equipment. I am not a technician but I like things made by me.
After reading the cable retrofitting the bmw x3, I bought everything you need to install myself in my car navigation.
The cable has two connections X3 black color (one is male and one female), you must remove these connectors and cables connecting the main cable from the radio. I've seen the pictures but do not know if the plug wires go to the main head or are female.
If someone has the patience to teach me where each wire connects would be very happy to install my navigation equipment.
I purchased template, radio browser, screen CID, cables X3, etc..
I just need detailed information of each cable connection to the main cable my z4.
I apologize for my translation and I appreciate your help.
Thank you very much everyone, with the help I can do everything.

My doubts:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

wire yellow / blue?
wire white / black?
brown wire?

As I read the yellow and red is included in the pin 5, and the yellow and brown is included in the pin 11.
In the original cable set X3, there is a connector to include these two wires and plug into the radio. I think there is no error in this.

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Thanks

This afternoon I started on my z4 retrofitting.

I plugged the cables into the stereo jack.

white / purple
red / yellow
yellow / red / white

The radio is working properly, however the screen has no image, but opens and closes.

Someone can help me?

I have not installed MK4 do not know if it really is essential.

Thanks

Ok srhutch

I will ask for a mk4 a friend to carry out the checks.
So I can perform ahujero to install the screen and getting everything ready for buying a mk4.

Thanks

Well, it's all installed and working properly. The "problem" was mk4. Once plugged in, and you see the screen.
