As above,

How difficult is it to fit? Is there a detailed guide anywhere?

I presume to retrofit i'd need - MK4 DVD Nav Drive, loom cable, CID Screen, GPS antenna? Anything else i may have missed?

How much total for everything? £1000ish???

Thanks,

Mark

thanks for your input pvr 8)

You say £600 if you can find the parts at that price. You will have to find the wiring loom which is no longer available. you can modify a loom from the X5 to get it to fit.

Check out the How to section

True, the wiring loom was £52 or so from the dealer, so if that is not available for order that might be a bit more of a nuisance.

The actual fitting of everything is a couple of hours, the cutting of the dash took me forever (think 6 hours over 3 evenings or so). I don't fancy doing that again though :D

Both PVR and myself created templates from the monitors we purchased. I used a dremel with flex attachment which makes cutting the hole easy.

The head unit is the hardest part to come across.

Where are you based.

I did the as srhutch with my install I used the monitor itself to make the template. managed to do the cutting in about 90 minutes, with a dremel and a flexi attachment. take your time don't rush and be damn sure your template is right.
You'll have a ball ache finding the CID; I got mine from the states. as for the loom, since you can no longer get these from BMW I can show you how to modify the X3 (not X5) loom - there's no writeup on it on the forum as yet though.

Is there much to modify on the x3 loom to fit with the nav in the Z4?

nope not at all, you you need to do is relocate the connectors from the head of the loom towards the rear and either change the plugs or remove them and splice into the existing loom. obviously the latter is cheaper but does have it's pitfalls in terms of aesthetics. (then again its hidden behind the firewall so who cares right??).

I'll be doing it for another member so I'll document the process fully.
