Retrofitting 10 Speaker Stereo

Possible on an M?

Those two cubby holes are bugging me, they were plugged with subs on the roadster .

I have a feeling the digital amp is pretty expensive and would also need to be wired directly to the head unit.

Much better to use the same money to get a decent aftermarket amp, pair of subs and take a feed from the rear speakers using a Cleansweep (I've got one of those that I can sell you too).

Whether or not it's worth replacing the blanks in the doors I don't know - I doubt it.

I've been told that the Loom is the same regardless and that I'd just need speakers, subs and an amp + BnBs.

I'm just not sure if the loom is actually the same though....

Someone on Z4um retro-fitted the 10 speaker system, it wasn't cheap but can't remember how much. I agree that aftermarket is the way forwards.

I go after market tbh,

The DSP system in my M Coupe is pretty poor for the money BMW charge, of course you get the integrated screen, but sound quality is poor

The bass is muddy and the overall sound lacks clarity

I'd much rather have a decent Alpine head unit and a matched set of speakers installed by a decent company.

Looking back I wish I’d bought a non sat-nav car, saved some cash and whacked a HU with a slide out screen with sat nav
