Retrofit Xenons - MOT day

I have just dropped the car at the local halfords for its first MOT since the change in policy where you need to have headlight washers (which I have) and auto levelling (which I don't)

I will report back on the outcome later today.

I'd say you'll be fine too!

Its the corsa's and golf with 8k colour who will be pulled for this.

Yeah fingers crossed. I bought a headlight switch unit without the level adjust dial for this reason, but I've got until the end of the year to make the call.
 
It passed :o

After they handed over the certificate I asked them about retro xenons and the new law that came into effect this year. They said they could see mine has xenons fitted aftermarket, presumably by the colour and brightness. However as long as the beam pattern was fine it would be a 'pass' (Although i didnt ask if this was guidance passed down from management or decision they has made themselves).

So happy days if you also have retro xenons fitted :thumbsup:
 
They will pass, below is a post I made a few months back. If you look at the .pdf file you can see they're fine. This is the actual document they use for passing or failing.

As long as the beam pattern is ok, you will have no problems.

Section 1.7

Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system. Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given. Headlamp washers may work in conjunction with the windscreen washers (when the dipped beam headlamps are switched on) or by a separate switch.

Pleased for you. I'm trying to recall are yours OEM xenon units on a car that had halogens, or retrofit hid's inside halogen units?

Hi Phil, Standard halogen headlights with the xenon retro fitted bulbs and 'mini' ballasts which are held within the headlight
