Retrofit Turn Signal Stalk with BC button?

Hey folks

I have a 2005 2.5i with a turn signal stalk that doesn't have the BC button. I see a lot of them used on Ebay and other places and I'm wondering if I can retrofit this on my car so I can toggle the digital display. Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, there must be some way to toggle the data on the display without the BC button because when the battery has been reset, it asks me to re-enter the time for the clock, yet the display always ONLY shows the outside temperature. How do I toggle the display without the BC switch?

Do I need to find someone to re-code the car for this feature? If so, how do I find somebody who can do that?

Afraid I can’t help as I wasn’t aware there were any that didn’t have that as standard?
Maybe a daft question but are you sure yours hasn’t been replaced? You could try fitting one and see if it works?

According to RealOEM, there is a turn switch indicator for cars with “on-board computer” and another for cars without. I’ll guess yours is the latter.

Frankly, the “on-board computer” doesn’t do very much. IIRC, you can change the display to avg. speed, avg. mpg, range, temperature, that’s it. However, it would be a very inexpensive experiment to change the indicator switch.

I read in one thread that if the instrument cluster has the S/R and clock button, then it has the OBC, but if it instead has Hrs and Mins buttons, then it does not. Mine has the former... Can anyone verify if that's actually true?

Also, another thread I found said that all e85/e86 models have the OBC, but it was a dealer option and has to be flashed to enable those functions, then the BC stalk will work.

I'll install the new stalk anyway and we'll see what happens.

Is there a VIN reading site that would actually tell me if my car is equipped with the OBC?

Alternatively, would something like the Carly OBD2 scanner/coder be able to tell me and/or turn it on/off?

No idea to any of those questions, sorry. You can try putting your vin into a decoder, I have seen mdecoder.com mentioned on this forum.
