retrofit start button

Had one on my VX220. Pretty neat wee touch, but might be a bit more hassle than its worth. Plus it might be one of those things your insurance company looks badly on?

Will be when I get her home tomorrow.....0-60 in 5.9 on a diesel. Should be quick enough to justify the gimmicks.

Imp if it were me I'd just identify the wire from the ignition that operates the started and send and extra lead to a momentary on switch on the console. Should be easy enough.

Someone on zpost did this and posted up the wiring diagram.... Think they even managed it without the key in te ignition.

What is the price of a 535d (F10) with the spec. that is equivalent to your Jag? 535d is 0.2 sec faster than the Jag (5.7 sec).

thanks cj and aquazi. im looking to buy a spare centre console to spray up and if it comes with a hole for the sport button i dont want to put in a dummy sport button (i have a 2.0!) , id rather use it for a start button.

I get it on a keyless entry system, but if you have to put a key in the ignition I ask again why?

It's not worth the effort, and if you remove the need for the key in the steering lock you will probably invalidate your insurance.

Same reason you got the Z4 in the first place, because it makes the whole process that much more special. I had it in my Civic, and I miss it on the Z4 Turning the key is like 'arming' the system. Then you press the big red button and hear the engine roar into life.
