Retrofit memory seats

Hello,
I have been offered some memory seats and wondered if anyone could advise if they'd fit my z4.

I have a 2.0 06 pre-facelift plate n46 engine.

Basic manual seats are currently fitted.

Would I be sable to just swap in the memory seats, and they work, or is it a non starter.

For electric/memory all the seats need is power, retrofitting heating is far more difficult. But both are possible.

surely memory seats need more than power? I mean if they were just electronic then power would be all but I believe that you can have them set to adjust depending on the key so I assume some sort of connection to the ibus thingy is needed? but you could use without...?!?!?

I did this today. It's quite a bit of work if your car isn't pre-wired for seat adjustment. First thing to check is whether your seat wiring loom has the required connections.

If it doesn't, you need to by some connectors and wires. This thread is handy for part numbers: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&p=503567

You do need a k bus connection for the key memory feature, yep. Possibly also some programming.

As has been said, it's very easy if the wiring is there as it was on my car (2005 model). Very easy to get the manual seats out so just take a look (but disconnect the battery first as you don't want to be triggering any airbag lights etc). There's a very good guide in the retrofit section which I followed a couple of years ago. There's no key-driven presets on E85s (I didn't realise E86s had this either).

One other thing... be very careful about trying to move the manual seats up/down back/forward on the subframes while they are out of the car (I don't remember why I had to do this, probably to free some cables or something) but the spring-loaded mechanism is lethally powerful when there's no weight in the seat!
