Retrofit cruise control question(s)

Mine has the SE suspension and that's as hard as I'd want it. My previous Zed had the M sport suspension, which was too hard in retrospect!
I agree about potholes - don't know about you guys, but around Preston the roads are literally 'shocking', I spend most of my concentration trying to avoid them.
However, I find the M Sports seats very comfortable for long distances and for spirited drives (I found the standard sports seats very poor).

Would u need the cowl also? And has anyone bought one with the built in mic or can u modify the original cowl. Also do all zeds need the loom or do some already have the loom in place but not the stalk?

Just cut your existing cowl. Only the lower part needed. Almost all need the loom, easiest way to check is to look.

As said previously, about £120 for stalk and loom from Soper now. No point in a group buy, you won't get it much cheaper.

I had the SE seats when I did my Euro trip and they aren't bad if you can get them adjusted to the perfect angle, but I have to admit I prefer the M seats in my new one

I'm not drunk I'm avoiding potholes, I find myself saying this alot as I drive on Southamptons dodgy roads :driving:

Marlon, retrofitting CC on the pre-facelift Z4's seems to be a doddle, just plug & play, as the wiring loom is in place. The facelift models need you to install the wiring loom and it looks to be a be of faffing about. I thought it would be just a case of connecting one end of the loom to a plug in the car, and the other end to the stalk, but looking at the docs online it seems you have to do a bit more.
Would love to be told otherwise by someone who's done it on a facelift Z4, but it's put me off (for now).
Tell you what - you buy/install it, and let me know how difficult you found it to do :thumbsup:

A local Indie did mine for about £80. They had it done in about 45 mins ! BMW ( Dick Lovett Swindon) quoted me £360 to do it ....yes just the installation and claimed it would take two hours and that the car would need coding. They also refused to guarantee the work as I didn't source the kit through them . It was bought from BMW Germany and still sealed in its box :thumbsdown:

Can anyone point me to the retrofit instructions for fitting cruise control on a facelift - I want to show it to my Indy.
Also does the cowling have a circular guide on the inside to show where the hole for the stalk cuts out?

I think there's a cutout mark on the inside of the lower cowling for the CC. Might want to confirm that.

Mine was marked on the inside to show me where to cut it.

AFAIK the BMW retrofit instruction is slightly confusing I read a post on here and it has a much better explanation of how to route the wires and more importantly where to plug in under the bonnet as the location on the BMW PDF had a few people stumped until someone on here worked out the correct location I'll see if I can find the thread as will need it anyway when I do mine

The n52 pin is wrong, will add the WDS diagram here when I get home showing correct location, should match those above but at least you have a definitive source.

The retro-instructions are wrong for the N52.

The black 'repair' cable needs to be crimped onto the blue cable then put into this block:


Which is pin 39 on the block as shown in this wiring diagram:
