Does anyone have any recommendations of a good aftermarket rear PDC / Parking Sensors kit for the E89? Ideally I'm looking for something that doesnt require having the rear bumper resprayed.

The dealers told me they can only do the OEM BMW set-up which is mega expensive c£1,500!!!

You should have ordered your car with PDC (front and rear) fitted at factory for £605 (if new), or bought one with it (AUC). The price that your dealer quoted probably includes a new front and rear bumper. It think it is quite labour-intensive job, eg. wiring, removal of bumpers. DIY parking sensors start as cheap as £20 from Argos/Halfords. But would you really want aftermarket PDC other than BMW OEM one? Go and get more quotes from different dealers. If new bumpers are needed, £1,500 sounds reasonable (upgrade to M Sport ones at the same time and sell old ones on ebay/keep as spares). Does the price only include rear PDC, not front and rear?

I bought the car AUC and there wasn't a lot of choice for what I was looking for (DSBlue, white leather, nice alloys and an auto) so settled for one without PDC.

It not a massive issue, just a nice to have and I certainly wouldn't pay £1,500 for it.

I've had after market kits installed before which worked fine, As the E89 is relatively new I just wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

Thanks, I've seen a few of those on different sites.

Does anyone have any experience of using one (on any car)? Are they accurate?

My car came without. I asked the dealer about retrofiting but he said they dont do it anymore, which was a bit odd. I guess it must be the cost. My old RX8 parking sensors so I was worried my parking had gone out the window. The Z4 is definitely easier to park though, so im just living with it.

can anyone post a link to the strip behind the bumper sensors ?
how do they fit and connect into the cabin ?

thanks

I have a box still here, need to install it on another car but have not found the time yet.

Simply connected to the reverse light, so wiring is a doddle.

Well, you could drop by and help me take the bumper off instead of just drinking my coffee :P
