Retro fit heated seats to M sport seats?

Heated seats isn't one of the options the original owner chose for my e86 M coupe. Although I've been reading that the heating elements and wiring harness might already exist in the car and just needs hooking up.
I think that was the case with the E85 but does anyone know for sure if the E86 also had inactive heated seats?
I've looked around on youetube but haven't found anything specific for my car.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi mate

I took some non heated seats apart (standard) recently and there were no elements present.

The looms were in cars built (I think) up to October 2004

Like "bigwinn" says only really early E85s were fitted with a loom pre-wired for all the options, so your E86 won't have it.

I'm also pretty sure the non-heated seats didn't have the heating pads either.

Soo the post from "colb" on this thread where he fitted heated pads to seats that weren't heated over 3 days! https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1841686&hilit=heated+seats#p1841686

Sadly it doesn't look like a simple fix!

Thanks boys, I thought it might be like that. I have added heating pads to other seats and yeah it's a good 3 day job, not complaining though, just a another excuse to spent quality time with my best toy.

Or, like me, you can use an OEM switch panel from a donor car and a suitable loom along with aftermarket pads:
