Hi, Today and yesterday I started to fit the cruise control. Now I have found that the brake lights are on all the time.
Also cruise control not working. I have connected the Yellow to 27 and Brown to 31 on the LCM, and the wires taken out of the LCM connectors are (Violet/Yellow, and Black/Brown) these are connected to the new loom.
IVM box, blue wire connected to spare pin number 4 in the grey box, the black connector in the grey box.

Where have I gone wrong?
Help most appreciated.

I think you might be on the wrong plug ...if i remember the pin 4 on the other plug was the brake light signal wire . Don't have the plug pinout drawing with me at the moment. Just a theory .

Attempting something beyond your capacity , experience or skillset

To be fair, he's had a go and obviously misunderstood an instruction somewhere, but had the common sense to stop and ask again.
Many people blunder on and leave a bigger mess to sort out.

Guess that's a positive way of looking at it  perhaps its just me but if i don't know how to do something ( especially something potentially complicated like car wiring ) i'd get it done by someone who knows what they are doing .

You have a N52 engine, you need to be in pin39 of the plug in front of the main ECU housing as per my instructions.

The BMW ones are wrong as widely acknowledged, and noted in my instructions.

That's what's so great about this forum, you will nearly always get a response from someone who's been there and done it :)

That pin is numbered 39. The first one before the white/green is number 35 white/green is 36 and so forth....am I wrong, this is the only box next to the main ecu housing with grey connector.

You said you’ve put it in pin 4, now I’m confused.

Post up a picture or two so we can see clearly where you have connected it.

All sorted!!!
The brake lights were on all the time due to fuse number 14 being blown. My fault :headbang: !!! I forgot to disconnect the battery prior to fitting the cruise control. Must have shorted, I did see a spark when the brown and black wire touched the body.
Heres me telling people they should disconnect power when working on electrics, Hypocrite comes to mind.

The cruise control was working all the time! :headbang: I did not know you have to push stalk away from you to engage cruise control. Ooopppss
.
All tested and running ok.
Thanks to SRHUTCH for a straight forward superb loom (well worth the money) and instructions and to everyone posting suggestions.
EASY Mod to do, but.....fiddly when it comes to removing and connecting LCM (not for the ham-fisted).
