Respray

Has anyone had their front bumper resprayed recently and if so how much did it cost?

I was washing the car the other day and got quite depressed about the number of stone chip and marks all over the front. I guess they are more noticable in this sunny weather.

Cheers

Expect about £150

I'd expect more like £300 if you want a really nice job, with all the nicks/marks filled over and flattened (so it's like new)

A blow over will leave most of the marks there and look terrible. It really needs a good build primer/filler and then rubbing back to get it super smooth, otherwise it's best left as is imho!

I think if you get it done cheap you won't be any more happy with it than you are now, so either leave alone or get it done really well :)

Agree Dave more towards your figure for a really good job. I know people who can do it for less, but the cost is in the labour of prep.

Just had a quote for my X5 rear bumper today. Mrs CJ reversed it into another car  Just minor scrape/scratches, no filling , no prep really and coming in at just under £200. That's a 'special' rate from people I know.

I had mine done about a year ago.

I started to notice a lot of stone chips and scratches last month. The car is Jet Black so they really stand out. I was also thinking of a respray.....
Since the "she accident" had put more chips on the bumper cover, I took the front bumper cover off the car last weekend to see what I could do myself.

I first washed then clayed the cover. Then I took a very small paint brush and some BMW touch up paint to cover the stone chips.

Then I got out the Porter Cable, and then used some Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover Polish.
Then I used some Pinnacle Finish Polish.

Next was a wax job. A 100% improvement. You have to get right up on the bumper to see the imperfections. You now can't see them from three feet away.

You might want to think about spending some quality time and a little bit of elbow grease, before you shell out your hard earned money.. You might be surprised...
Just an option.....

Now something better than BMW touch up paint, it Dr. Color Chip. http://www.drcolorchip.com/
I have seen this work at HC08 and it really works. NO BLOBS...

The only real way to prevent the chips is a "Clear Bra" type of coating...

+1. This is the way to go. I had them install clear bra before my 400 mile drive home from Atlanta, GA.

Shipkiller got it right. I have a 2003 Z4 in my garage with no stone chips. But, I can't over stress the value of the application to protect your front spoiler underside. Have them use the thickest film they've got.

I had a front bumper respray for £130. Very good job. You can never tell though until you've spent the money.
