Ok let's call a close on this free paint with glitter!! At least Mrs Monkey will like it!!

So I will have a turd covered in glitter

Although, I'm sure that, once you've finished with it, it'll look nothing like a turd

Considering all the prep work and that the only difference in cost is a couple of litres of base coat (given you either have already or must pay for everything else from primer, lacquer, thinners, prep materials, etc.) then I'd def get something I wanted and unique.

There are some fantastic greys out there if that's what you like. Lambo have one as does fezza.

I'm surprised lux didn't suggest yellow, he mentioned on Sunday that's the colour he wished he'd gone for when we were talking about all the black and grey cars

Just to stick my little fly in the ointment and only just seeing this thread, what about the M3(e92) Silverstone II ? Metallic, silver with a hint of blue. I've thought about doing my mc in this for ages. :D

This is the thing... I have done a lot of favours for a friend. All consumables and costs are not coming my way. He has the stuff already so the respray apart from my time and a few beers is free! So spending a few £100 seems steep!!

So if you get all the materials free all you need to do is substitute a base coat in a colour you really like. That should cost no more than £150 for a couple of litres. Seems so worthwhile to me to do that unless you really like to 'free' colour.

Agreed...

Its great to get stuff for free, and grey does look good but adding metallic can be very hit and miss..
And matching up later for scuffs etc will be a mare..
And being really honest you need a fantastic painter in the best conditions to make a high flake paint job work.. You also need to wet flat the laquer after completion.

Just be careful and choose wisely..

It's not a lot of money but it's still cash CJ. If you hadn't said what you said on Sunday I wouldn't be having these problems  I am quite happy with grey. I am just not happy with what it says about my personality!!!

Not too sparkly, Mat!
