Good morning Matt

Thanks for your email about the service charge at Sytner Cardiff being different to the online quote. I’m sorry to hear about this – I can understand how frustrating this must be for you.

Most of our centres are independently owned, and set their own charges. The best thing to do is compare service charges before booking your car in. You can find alternative centres contact details here.

About Kaleigh Ingram service advisor at the centre, not returning your call - I’ve spoken to Brian Miles, service manager. He’s said that he’ll contact you today to discuss this.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, please get back in touch.

Kind regards

Mandy

So basically when you get a quote from BMW UK, it's just a "guide" and the actual price may be more

Update - the service manager has just called me and said the service charges are national and are set, so the price quoted is the correct one.
Which now goes against what BMW UK are saying.

Actually i think I'll go to a trusted Independent and save after all this palava

Bad luck.
Sytner. Their "service" departments are a crock of thieves in my experience their strategy seems to be to retain you on their premises as long as possible whilst they rack up unnecessary optional add-ons to your service. Awful, I hated them.

What a pity that these main dealers don't realise that they are missing out on a huge potential source of business by alienating the private motorist who own cars that are over four years old.

I wouldn't mind paying slightly more than an independent for the main dealer stamp in my car's service book but I need to feel as though I'm getting something special for the extra money - and at the moment I don't see what added value I'd be getting.

I do wonder if the dealers actually want our money anyway perhaps they are making such good money from the business users and lease companies that they are not bothered by the private owner.

Generally I call my dealer, say I want a service and ask for a quote, if I'm happy with the quote the cars booked in.

Tim.
