Resetting the old mileage left on rear brake pads

Hi everybody, this week I changed the rear brake pads together with a new sensor, car is the z4 e89 30i msport. The problem is I can get to the reset menu and select the rear brakes, then when reset comes up, I press and hold the BC button and I get the little spinning wheel (like a clock) but it does not do the job. I had 1800 miles left and it always keeps showing 1800 miles no matter how much I repeated the resetting procedure. I tried to search the forum but looks like everybody uses the procedure I mentioned above, to me it did not work. It did work wonders however when I changed the engine oil. Just not for the rear brake pads. Any magician out there? ;)

Or maybe there is somebody who can post for me a link to a topic that possibly I could have missed before? Thanks.

I had a similar problem, but I got to -400.
The only way to reset was to go to an independent garage that reset it for me for the cost of a couple of pints of beer.
After that I was very tempted to leave the new sensor not attached to the caliper.

It goes into a safety mode when it thinks it is being messed with and you have hi use an ODBC tool to fix it.

The company that reset my brakes mentioned what tool they had used and I have seen them on E-bay, but can't now remember the brand they said was used.

Hi all, this weekend I jacked up the car and took of the rear wheel again, unplugged the sensor, put it back on and this time it felt like it clicked in place more than before because I could feel that I was pushing more with my fingers. Jumped into the car, tried the reset procedure again and immediately the mileage reset for the new rear brake pads was done. I think the sensor was not exactly in its place before and so the problem I found. I also learnt that it needed no ODBC tool to reset, I was sure of this because if it needed this why would the instrument cluster of the car give the driver with the opportunity to reset the brakes? Its just what I think. Thanks still guys.

My E89 shows a date not mileage. Not sure why there would be a difference?
Mine shows mileage, other items show both mileage and date, like for example the engine oil. But for my brake pads I only have mileage.
