Reset Brake fluid change Date explanation?

I Just bought a E85 from 2004 thats gone 40 000 km and the last brake fluid change was in 2013 so i changed it today.
Looked around on how to reset the change and found how to.

- Iginition OFF (POS 0)
- Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to Position 1 (Accessory)
- Keep the button depressed (about 5 seconds) until you see 'Oil Service' or 'Inspection' with 'Reset' or 'Re' in the display
- Press the button again and the display will change to 'Brake Fluid' with the square clock symbol
- Press again and hold for about 5 seconds which resets it
- Release the button and switch off the ignition,

First i checked what it was on before i reset it an it said 2.13 What does that mean?

Then i reset and it now says 9.14

What is this numbers stand for? I read in the Handbook and it says month/Year.

Can someone explain what is going on......?

It looks like you followed the right re-set procedure for brake services which worked fine when I did it a while ago, but it's easy to mess up or time out and find you haven't actually re-set the thing.

Just a thought, if the brake services have been late and out of sync with the schedule in the memory it may need another re-set to wind it forward again, I'm wondering if a re-set just adds 2 years to the service scheduled dates rather than re-starting from the date you re-set it. Hopefully someone may know for sure.

I was thinking the same.
All the last brake changes has been Done by workshops. Maby they have forgotten to reset?

And now when i did the reset it went from 2.13 to 9.14, thats only 1 year and 7 months :|

I tryed to reset it again but it couldnt be Done again.

I did mine when the workshop forgot the reset and I couldn't be bothered to go back, but thought you should be able to reset again.

Various things can interrupt the reset including getting the sequence wrong or timed out, or an iffy brake pad sensor. And something at the back of my mind says you have to close the doors before starting the reset process presumably the door sensor triggers something in the module?
