Iam having a M front bumper fitted on Monday and want to mount the number plate on the lower grill. Iam looking at off setting it to the N/S or the O/S , by the way I have a 5 digit number plate cut down so it's shorter about 13 1/2" long . So the Big question is which side would look best .help !

Aren't you going to block airflow into the lower radiator and oil cooler by placing it on the lower grillage?

Don't forget I'll only have the 3.0 lt and with the shortened plate it will only cover about a third and if you look on the grill in the corners there's about 4" of solid part . This is why I want to off set it to one one side so to reduce any restriction, I don't think it will make any differance to cooling

Alan I have had a read up and as long as the plate itself is correct eg font size and spacing and it can be read from 20 meters from the front of the car and it is not obscured by anything it should be ok not unless someone knows any differance of course so if Ok legal wise which side ?I'll Be doing a trial fit tonight to make sure all well so will try and take some pics of it in differant positions

Only legal question remaining I see would be the plate has to be vertical, so you can't do the old E type on the bonnet trick.

That said I'd leave it in the centre and mount it on a cut down backing plate. Side mounted imho look horrible and are the domain of Jap customisers, Corsa wire mesh grille kids and odd specialised import cars with no fixing point.

Don't forget ya alfa's .Basicly any position from the front looks pants but the law is the law but mounting it on the grill , at least from the side or at an angle you won't notice it as
much. CJ iam not a big fan off cutting the holder down but horse,s for courses like I said untill I'll try it in a few positions I will not make my mind up yet .

Yeah - Alfa's. AI had this in min when thinking of imports.

Of course each to their own. See what it looks like before you drill

OK guys here's a couple of pics please excuse the primer and poor shut lines as this was just a temp trial fit .

Iam not to sure i might just go with it in the usaul place but without the holder just stuck on with the sticky pads

does look quite good there
just when i looked at it again it looks like the car has bugs bunny teeth on the first picture :P

Whats up Duck , ok folks thats all........ :D

See what you mean and the second looks like something stuck in its teeth, i think ill wait untill its sprayed up and fitted before i decide.
i wanted to take a pic of it in the usaul place but coundnt find the blue tac to stick it on with.........

think it would look best there in the middle of the grill when its all sprayed same colour 8)

Is that not blocking the airflow to the engine? Toyed with the idea of a sticker plate direct onto the front bumper - will probably look just as chav though?

I have divided to put it back in the original place but with out the holder , hopefully picking her up tonight :)
