Replica wheels with run flats?

I'm thinking of making a few changes to my Z4 and so I'm wondering how many people have switched to replica/non-BMW alloys and continued using run flat tyres? Any issues?

Also my rear coils have finally snapped (51K miles so par for the course on mileage I guess) - so I'm going to swap in some Eibach springs at the same time. Is the combination of lower/stiffer chassis, replica alloys & run flats something that should be avoided at all costs or should this all work together OK?

(My 108's have corroded very badly (the outer lip lacquer has pretty much flaked away entirely). Not sure they are worth selling as damaged alloys or just scrapping :( )
 
So long as the reps have the extra lip that RFTs require, shouldn't be a problem.

Suggest you post pics of your 108s as they could be easily refurbishable. :thumbsup:
 
108s are recoverable - a good refurbish will bring them back to 'good as new' - your choice over really.

As for the RFT issue, a quick search on here will show you that many have ditched the RFT option in favour of a quality conventional tyre (and there are many choices) which gives a better ride and handling characteristics.
 
Yes a lot of people ditch the RFT's at the first opportunity. I'd like to continue using them, as I don't mind the ride (at all) and the run flat ability has helped me out more than once in the past :)

My main concern is in the possibility of cracking the replica wheels based on the runflats & stiffer springs :?

Well the two main causes of rims cracking are either poor quality metal in the first place, or running ultra-thin rubber on large rims (19"+) on potholed roads....so the choice is yours :thumbsup:
 
My old 3.0 roadster has LM reps with the standard Bridgestone RFT, along with Eibach springs. I never had any problems with them and as you say, the RFT helped me out a couple of times too :thumbsup:
 
I have in my BMW Z4 replica styles MY 359, front 8x18 "ET34, rear 5.5 x18" ET37, tires Bridgestone Potenza RE050 RFT: front 225/40R18, rear 255/35R18.
