Replacing the Ebrake

Has anyone had to deal with replacing the ebrake? I'm picking up the car tomorrow, but the only the issue the guy said is that the brackets for the ebrake had broken. He has a new replacement for it, but I wasn't sure how intuitive or pita it was to actually replace :P

Haven't heard it called that before :P but I would assume same device. Currently pulling up the lever does nothing
 
right the anti roll back is when you on a hill it wont roll back for few seconds

the lever you pull up, pulls on cables so is non electrical, theres the switch that tells car hand brake is on

Does the hand brake its self work?, or just the light doesnt come on dash when its on?

The brake itself does not work at all.
 
does there feel any tension when you pull hand brake up? if not id suggest the cable(s) have snapped

if there feels tension but never quite hols on enough the pads can be adjusted, maybe needs new brake shoes

No tension at all. The previous owner said it was the bracket, so he had purchased a complete ebrake assembly but hadn't installed it. I am hoping that the swap is fairy easy. If it's the cables, that sounds like it could be more work?
 
To clear up any confusion - Kihtay is referring to emergency brake (ebrake), not electric brake (ebrake). Have to admit it had me scratching my head for a minute.
Under no circumstances look up the urban dictionary definition of ebrake (you have been warned...).

You can't say that.... That's like telling someone not to push the button........

But yes, emergency brake. Not sure what the electric brake is, never heard of this prior..

Hi, e89 cars have an ebrake-it's the electric handbrake.

Replaced the ebrake (handbrake over here) on my 3.0i. It's a bit of a difficult job to do as it involves removing part of the exhaust and Heatshield underneath the car. The cable was stretched on mine and had no tension whatsoever.

Took 2 of us about 5 hours in a warm garage. I wouldn't bother trying to do it outside, unless it was warm and dry.
