Replacing springs - worth doing shocks?

Day before the MOT I noticed my d/s front spring had snapped; handling etc has all been fine so I think maybe it’s just the bottom coil as it even looks ok sitting in the strut!

Anyway new Eibach springs ordered. What’s the consensus on replacing shocks at the same time? Existing ones are mechanically and operationally fine, but I suspect they’ve been on the car at least 12+ years same as the springs. Worth the extra dosh to get the changed out?

No idea tbh; car has done 20k in my ownership and 80k overall; 2003 car. Shocks are in pretty good condition so I don’t think they’re original/80k old. No issues with them mechanically.

If the shocks are in good condition leave them.

But if they were original and had done 80k I would recommend changing them.

Are they still difficult to compress by hand and do they return to the extend position quickly?
